Joan (Wilkinson) Allen

Joan Allen, 88, of Fairland, Indiana passed away on May 18, 2015 in Indianapolis.

Joan was born June 21, 1926, in Manchester, England to the late Cecilia and Thomas Wilkinson.  She met Corporal Marvin Glenn Allen and married him during WWII, after the wedding they moved to Virginia.  

They later moved to Shelby County and resided there for 62 years. She worked at RCA during the Elvis years, however much of her life and all of her love was devoted to raising her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed reading, traveling the world, watching Seinfeld, discussing politics and anything related to Great Britian. Family and friends were the passion of her life.  

Joan is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Marvin Glenn Allen, her daughter Debra Armstrong, son-in-laws; Ronald Armstrong, Michael Beattey and Lowell Spencer, III (Past), siblings; Marion Pickford, Ron, Vincent, Sonny and Harold Wilkinson.

Joan is survived by her children Linda Beattey and Michael Allen, grandchildren; Shelley Spencer-Hellmich (Ron), Aaron Armstrong (Nikki), Eric Allen (Jennifer), and Angie Allen, great grandchildren; Nico, Jenna, and  Eden Allen, and Paige Armstrong.  

She was a woman of fortitude and character and will be missed greatly.

Services will be at 4:00pm on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 W. US Hwy 52, Fountaintown, with Pastor Carl Coffey officiating.  Visitation will be on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 1:00pm up until the time of service at the mortuary.
