Donald E Barry

Donald E. Barry, beloved father, brother and grandfather, endured deafness for 82 years until September 5, 2016 when he entered Hearing Heaven to greet his formerly deaf parents who also reside there. He retired from Taystee and Colonial Bakery after a combined 32 years. Donald is survived by his first son, Kevin L. Barry, with whom he shared the same birthday; daughter-in-law, Julie Barry; brother, Estel N. (Maryann) Barry, Jr.; grandsons, Devin (Nikki) and Sean Barry; great grandchildren Haleigh and Devin Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estel N. Barry Sr. and Mary E. (Huffman) Barry; his first wife, Carol; and his second son, Mike.

Don graduated from the Indiana State School for the Deaf where he excelled at football and was named an All American among the nation's Deaf Schools. Don was socially active in the Indianapolis deaf community and hosted many "closed captioned" movie nights for his friends.

Graveside Service will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016, 1:00 PM, at Washington Park East Cemetery. There will be no viewing.  Arrangements are being handled by Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, Fountaintown.
