Doctor Gordon C. Jones

 Doctor Gordon C. Jones, 88, of New Palestine, IN passed away Wednesday, March 15th, in Indianapolis.

Gordon was born in Grand Marais, MN on September 14, 1928, a son of the late Ann B. (Brenden) and Lawrence C. Jones.

Survivors include wife; Nancy Jones of New Palestine, sons; Thomas Jones, Casper, WY, James Jones of Indianapolis, IN and Dr. Mark A. (Kimberly) Jones of Greenfield, IN, grandchildren; Jennifer (Brian) Sorenson,  of Casper, WY,  Elise Jones, Casper, WY, Connor and Samuel Jones of Indianapolis, IN, Ryan (Jessica) Lawver-Jones of New Palestine, IN, Kyle Lawver-Jones of New Palestine, IN, Carly Jones of New Palestine, IN, and Melanney MacKenzie. Seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents and brother James Jones.

Gordon graduated in 1946 from Tech High School in Indianapolis, IN.  He served in the U.S. Air Force and Graduated with a Doctorate Degree in Medicine from Indiana University. In 1958 he joined the staff of Community Hospital in Indianapolis.  He held many positions in the hospital including Chief of Staff.  Gordon also owned and operated his own General Practice for more than 50 years retiring in 2008.  Gordon enjoyed professionally caring for his families thru several generations. In his free time he loved golf in which he was a member of the Maple Creek Country Club, fishing, playing competitive Bridge most recently at the Indianapolis Bridge Center.  He loved following IU Athletics and spending time with his family.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, 1444 West US Hwy 52, Fountaintown, IN  46130.
