Albert (Al) Leroy Meadows, of Avon, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his residence.

Albert (Al) is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary (Petcoff) Meadows; his son, Albert (Albie) Meadows (Marilyn); his daughter, Michelle Meadows-Worley (Chris), his daughter, Lisa Meadows; his son John Meadows (Bertha); five grandchildren, Jenna, Mary, Elizabeth, Lauren, and Caleb; one great-grandchild, Braxton. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Mary Meadows, and sister Mary (Tootie) Chandler.

Al graduated from Washington High School in 1950. He served in the Navy from 1951 – 1953; he was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas. On his return home he attended Butler University. He married the love of his life, Mary Petcoff, on October 25, 1953. His career opportunities lead him to many different positions. He owned his own cookie distribution business, and worked as a real estate agent. In his retirement he worked for Bell Mortuaries and Crematory as a limousine driver.

Al enjoyed sports, and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He played and coached basketball. He was a devout Christian, and a faithful member of the St. Stephen Eastern Orthodox Church. He served as a board member for many years, as well as church warden, and official greeter. He was a quintessential family man and enjoyed being with them most of all. He will be greatly missed!

Funeral Services will be Friday, November 3,2017 at 11:00 a.m. with calling one hour prior to service, at St. Stephen Eastern Orthodox Church, 1435 Medford Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Visitation for Al will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. There will be a 7:00 p.m. Trisagion Service at the church. Burial will be at West Ridge Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Arrangements are being handled by Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel, 2310 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222.
