About Us : Overview

Our funeral homes are family owned and operated businesses. We are large enough to give our families the same service as the largest funeral homes around, yet we are small enough that each family gets the level of attention and care they deserve.

Jeff and Lynnette Bell along with their two young sons Elijah and Jonah own and operate Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Royster-Askin-Sandrock Chapel and our newest location Shangrila Chapel.

We are truly family serving families. We take great pride in the work that we do, and strive to make every effort possible so that the families we serve feel very comfortable and at ease with their decisions that they have made.

Funerals are a reflection of a life that has once lived. We want our families to feel like they can express themselves or their loved ones wishes in the manner that they fill most adequate.

We go to great lengths to make families feel right at home. Death is a very uncomfortable situation to begin with, and we feel like families need to feel at home rather than feel closed in and awkward.

Jeff and Lynnette Bell purchased their first funeral home formerly known as Royster-Askin-Sandrock Funeral Home on the west side of Indianapolis in 1996. They later changed the name to it's current. They have made several updates to this location and have truly come to love the community they serve. Every August the Bell's put on a "Block Party" for the community and give out free hamburger's and hot dogs. This is just one way the Bell's give back to the community they love and serve.

In 2008 the Bells fulfilled their dream of serving the people of Hancock and surrounding counties with the opening of their second funeral home Bell Mortuary & Crematory, Shangrila Chapel, in Carollton/Finly, Indiana. Jeff and Lynnette, along with their sons, Elijah and Jonah will reside on the funeral home grounds. This living arrangement is unheard of in today's corporate funeral homes, but it underscores the Bell's total commitment of personal service to every family they are privileged to serve.

Jeff is a 1986 graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jeffersonville, IN. A native of Madison, Indiana, Jeff is a 1984 graduate of Madison High School. He married the former Lynnette Swise who attended New Palestine High School and later graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis. The young couple made their first home in New Palestine, an area they came to love.

The Bell's along with their children are involved in many civic and community activities.
